Walk To School Campaign
Walk to School addresses these issues by encouraging pupils and parents to reconsider their school journey and enjoy the many benefits of walking. Our key activitiesWalk to School week Takes place every year in May across the UK, and is an established date in the school diary. Each year over two million children take part. Click here to find out what happened for Walk to School Week 2008. International Walk to School Month Takes place in over 40 countries, including the UK. It happens in October each year with the aim of making the world a better place in which to walk - one community at a time. Click here to find out how the UK gets involved. WOW (Walk Once a Week, Walk on Wednesdays....) Walk to School Week and Month happen twice a year but we want children to walk to school every day. The WOW scheme helps schools to encourage regular walking by giving incentives to children who walk. Click here to find out more about WOW.
Step Up is a brand new project to bring the walking message to secondary schools across England. Click here to find out more about Step Up. About the campaign Walk to School is organised by Living Streets and ACT Travelwise, and funded by the Department for Transport for primary schools and the Big Lottery Fund for secondary schools.
